Upholstered Bed Frame Cleaning

Regular cleaning

Routine weekly cleaning helps maintain the upholstery appearance and prevents dust and dirt from building up in crevices.

  • Vacuum weekly using the soft brush attachment to remove surface dust and allergens
    • Pay extra attention to creases, tufts, and buttons, where dust tends to collect
  • Spot clean spills or stains immediately with a mild detergent and warm water solution, avoid vigorous rubbing to protect the fabric
  • Use a soft toothbrush to gently clean seams, stitching, or embroidered areas
  • Always allow all cleaned areas to fully air dry before placing bedding back, as trapped moisture can encourage mold or mildew

Deep cleaning

Over time, vacuuming and spot cleaning may not suffice, so deep clean your bed frame every 6 months to keep it in top condition.

  • One effective deep cleaning method is steam cleaning
    • This involves heat to sanitize and loosen stubborn, stuck-on grime
  • For targeted treatment, consider using upholstery cleaners design specifically for upholstered furniture
  • Use baking soda to deep clean and deodorize the upholstered bed frame's headboard by liberally sprinkling it onto the fabric, letting it sit for 1 - 2 hours
    • Post that, gently blot the area with a paper towel and vacuum away
    • The baking soda absorbs odours, surface oils and perspiration that can accumulate on an upholstered headboard overtime

Upholstered Bed Frame Care

Prevent discolouration

  • Keep your bed away from direct sunlight, which can cause uneven fading and dullness over time
  • Use curtains or blinds during peak daylight hours if your bed is near a window
  • Avoid prolonged contact with sweat, especially on the headboard, as natural body oils and perspiration can lead to stains or gradual fabric discolouration

Reduce humidity risks

  • Place the bed slightly away from the wall to allow air circulation, especially behind the headboard
  • When it is very humid, consider using a dehumidifier to prevent mold, mildew, and wood swelling

Maintain frame integrity

  • Tighten bolts and joints as required if you notice wobbling or creaks
  • Avoid jumping or standing on the frame to prevent stress fractures or bending
