Is pet friendly sofa fabric scratch-proof? +

No sofa fabric is completely scratch-proof, especially if the same area is scratched repeatedly. However, if you are looking for a scratch resistant sofa, our pet friendly fabrics use a tight, snag-resistant weave that helps reduce the likelihood of cat and dog claws catching on the surface. Their short pile also helps make minor scratch marks less noticeable.

What if my pet drools, spills, or has an accident on the sofa? +

Our pet-friendly sofa fabrics are water resistant, helping slow down the absorption of spills, pet drool and other liquids so you have more time to clean them up.

They are not fully waterproof, so liquids can still seep through if left unattended. Blot the affected area with a dry cloth and clean it as soon as possible.

How do I remove pet hair from a fabric sofa? +

Pet hair can usually be removed from the sofa using a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment. For more stubborn cat or dog fur, a lint roller, rubber cleaning brush or slightly damp rubber glove can help lift hair from the fabric.

Regular vacuuming helps prevent pet fur from building up over time.

What sofa colour is best for hiding pet hair? +

What is the best sofa fabric for cats? +

Cats may scratch, climb onto or crawl across the sofa, which can cause their claws to catch on loose fibres and create snags over time. Our pet-friendly fabric works well for a cat-friendly sofa because its tight weave and short pile create a compact surface with fewer loose or raised fibres for claws to catch onto, helping reduce snagging compared with more loosely woven or textured fabrics.

No sofa fabric is completely scratch-proof, so we also recommend providing scratching posts to redirect repeated scratching and regularly trimming your cat’s nails to keep them less sharp, which can help reduce visible scratch marks on the sofa.

What is the best sofa fabric for dogs? +

Dogs may jump onto the sofa with their paws, shed fur, drool, or bring back dirt and moisture after walks outdoors, especially on their paws and coat.

For a dog-friendly sofa, our pet-friendly fabric combines a tight weave with water- and stain-resistant properties to help reduce snagging from claws and make drool, damp paws, dirt and everyday messes easier to clean.

Regular vacuuming and wiping down your dog’s paws after walks can also help keep the sofa cleaner over time.

What should pet owners look for when choosing a sofa? +

When choosing a sofa for a home with pets, consider the fabric, leg height, removable covers and whether the seat and backrest cushions are detachable.

Choose a scratch-resistant and water-resistant fabric that can better handle claws, spills, drool and everyday messes.

For homes with cats, lower sofa legs can also be helpful as they may discourage cats from going underneath the sofa and scratching the base fabric. In more severe cases, repeated scratching underneath may eventually damage the base fabric and expose the seat cushion foam or suspension system.

Removable covers are useful if the sofa develops odours over time from pet accidents or frequent use, as they can be removed for washing or dry cleaning depending on the fabric care instructions.

It is also helpful to choose a sofa with non-fixed seat and backrest cushions. Detachable cushions are easier to lift, rotate and clean individually, and make it easier to access or maintain areas that become dirty, worn or damaged from repeated pet use.
