Why is it more breathable?

A fabric's breathability depends on both its fibre composition and construction.

Our natural fabrics contain at least 50% cotton, a natural fibre known for its softness and breathability. In addition, we deliberately select natural fabrics with a more open weave and no backing to allow better airflow through the fabric. Combined, these features improve their breathability.

This helps reduce heat and moisture build-up during prolonged sitting, making natural fabrics a more comfortable choice, especially in homes without air-conditioning.

Are natural fabrics easy to maintain?

No. Natural fabrics are more absorbent than polyester fabrics, making spills easier to penetrate the fabric and stains more difficult to remove once they settle.

Cotton fibres are naturally more absorbent, allowing liquids to penetrate the fabric more readily. In comparison, polyester absorbs less moisture, giving you more time to blot away spills before they penetrate deeper into the upholstery.

Once stained, natural fabrics can also be harder to clean, as absorbed liquids and stains may penetrate deeper into the fibres and become more difficult to remove completely.

Who is it not suitable for?

Natural fabrics may be less suitable for households with young children or pets if frequent spills, staining or scratching are a concern. Their absorbent fibres generally require more careful maintenance than easy-clean or water-repellent upholstery.

Cotton-rich fabrics may also develop wrinkles over time, creating a more relaxed, lived-in appearance. They may be less suitable if you prefer a consistently smooth and structured look.

Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can also cause colours to fade. We recommend positioning your sofa away from strong sunlight to maintain its appearance.
