Washable fabrics are pre-shrunk to minimise shrinkage after washing, making the covers easier to fit back onto the sofas with removable covers. We can use washable fabric on all our removable cover sofas.

What makes it washable?

Washable fabrics are designed to shrink less and more evenly in both length and width. Our selected washable fabrics typically shrink by less than 1% after wash. This helps the covers retain their shape and makes them easier to fit back onto the sofa.

They also do not have fabric backing or gel applied underneath, as these layers may loosen or get washed off during machine washing.

How often can I wash it?

We recommend washing the covers every 6 months to 1 year, depending on how frequently the sofa is used. Washable fabric can last for 5 to 10 washes, so spacing out each wash helps to extend its lifespan.

Between washes, water resistance treatment and prompt spot cleaning can help prevent spills and fresh stains from becoming permanent before the next wash.

Who is it not suitable for?

Washable fabrics used on removable-cover sofas may not suit those who prefer a smooth, tightly upholstered appearance with minimal creasing.

The covers are secured to the sofa frame with velcro and may shift slightly with use leading to creasing. Washable fabrics also do not have backing or gel underneath, giving them less structure and making creases more visible than on fixed upholstery.
