The nanoparticle fabric treatment causes stain particles to stay on the fabric surface instead of going into the fabric fibers leading to permanent stains. With the stains remaining at the surface, when we add water to the stained areas, the stains get dissolved by the water so that they can be easily lifted out of the fabric.
The more water soluble the stain particles are, the easier it is to clean them with just water. For stains such as grease that are oil soluble, addition of soap to water is required to properly clean the stains. This is because, soap has both a water loving end and an oil loving end. This helps to bind the oily stains to soapy solution.
For water resistance treatment, the fabric becomes hydrophobic and oleophobic. Water and oil spills bead up on the surface of the fabric due to the protective coating via surface tension. Within a limited time that the beading up persists, stains can be easily wiped away. For easy clean treatment, the nanoparticles applied prevents stains from penetrating the fabric fibers leading to permanent stains. The fabric does not become hydrophoic or oleophobic so accidental spills will wet the fabric. As the stains stay on the surface of the fabric, they can be easily cleaned by dissolving them in a liquid solution.
No, we cannot. Easy clean and stain resistance treatment use different principles to simplify fabric maintenance. For easy clean fabrics, liquid need to soak through the fabric to dissolve the stain particles. With addition of water resistance, it prevents the dissolving process required for stain removal. As a result, they contradict each other and we cannot do both type of treatment.
The easy clean treatment tend to last between 2 - 3 years.
