How We Helped a Pet Owner Customise Her Ideal Sofa in 5 Weeks

When a customer reached out to replace her damaged sofa, her brief was clear. This time she needed something durable and pet friendly. Her dog had not only scratched her previous sofa but also relieved itself on it, rendering it unsalvageable. She initially considered our Crystal Fabric Sofa, but needed some custom features to suit her home and pet.

One of the most important requirements was a sofa with low legs. The customer wanted to prevent her dog from crawling underneath and scratching the bottom of the sofa cover, a problem she had experienced before. However, the Crystal Fabric Sofa had a minimum leg height of 12cm, making this change unfeasible without compromising its structure. After discussing alternatives, we recommended the Christy Fabric Sofa, which was more adaptable to a low leg design and ultimately became the final choice.

Next, we turned our attention to upholstery. Having dealt with pet related wear and tear in the past, the customer specifically asked for scratch resistant materials. We explored both pet friendly fabric and pet friendly faux leather options. After careful consideration, she selected the Dias Pet Friendly Faux Leather, known for its durability and soft touch. We brought the samples to her home, and she chose Dias 22, a dark brown colour that best matched her existing furniture and overall aesthetic.

To complete the customisation, she requested a lower backrest to achieve a sleeker look for her living space. We reduced the backrest cushion height from 45cm to 38cm based on her preference. However, we advised her not to go any lower for both comfort and aesthetic reasons, as a further reduction could compromise back support and make the sofa appear visually disproportionate. The final height struck the right balance between style and practicality, aligning well with her intended look.

Once the design and materials were finalised, we moved swiftly. Production took just two weeks, after which we shared with her the completed sofa photos on our factory floor. She gave her approval promptly, and the sofa was shipped to Singapore in the following two weeks.

From order confirmation to final delivery, the entire process was completed within five weeks, with every detail tailored to her needs and lifestyle.
