Customizing a Crystal Fabric Sofa to Fit a Unique 2-Room Flexi Layout
Share
When our customer first contacted us, she was interested in our Crystal Fabric One Arm Sofa. While she loved the design, her main concern was whether the sofa could be customized to fit her specific living space and provide the comfort she needed while watching TV.
Her home is a 2-room flexi unit with the TV mount positioned near the window, making sofa placement a bit challenging. She wanted a seating solution that would not only look good but also give her proper support during her TV time.
We started the customization process by requesting her floor plan. Using this, we created various to scale drawings to visualize how different sofa configurations would sit in her space. We explored various widths, configuration combinations, with a focus on how well it would fit in her place.
Several design iterations followed, as we worked closely with her to fine-tune the dimensions and layout. The final version featured a corner unit that allowed her to recline and face the TV comfortably — a setup that felt both functional and inviting.
To be extra sure, she even taped out the sofa dimensions on her floor to experience the size in real life. This helped her confidently assess how the sofa would work in the actual space before committing to a configuration and dimension.
While she initially preferred a shorter total width to save space, we advised keeping the length at or above 200cm. Going shorter would have affected the visual proportions of the peninsula module, making it appear too abrupt and less aesthetically pleasing.
To further improve lounging comfort, we increased the backrest height from the standard 35cm to 40cm. This subtle but important adjustment gave her better upper back and shoulder support when sitting on the sofa, especially important for relaxing TV sessions after a long day.
As for fabric selection, her choice needed to suit both her lifestyle and her interior style. She mentioned wanting her dog to be able to relax on the sofa with her during breaks, so we guided her through our Furla Fabric Series — a practical choice for pet owners. Furla features a tight weave that’s scratch-resistant, along with water and stain resistance, making it a durable and low-maintenance option for families with pets.
Our customer eventually settled on Furla 45, an earthy light brown tone that complements her space beautifully and works well with the cozy, natural vibe she’s building. Since she’s also considering adding indoor plants, the neutral tone helps anchor future green accents. We brought the fabric samples directly to her newly renovated home so she could see how each option looked under her lighting and against her finishes.
We had the pleasure of visiting her home again to deliver the sofa, just as she was completing her renovations. Seeing the customized piece in place perfectly fitting the dimensions we had planned together was incredibly satisfying. The earthy tone of Furla 45 blended seamlessly with her wooden floor and neutral palette, while the corner unit added a cozy, grounded feel to the space. It was clear the sofa not only met her functional needs but also brought her vision for the room to life.
With a thoughtful approach to both design and layout, we delivered a custom Crystal Fabric One Arm Sofa that was not only beautiful but perfectly suited to her lifestyle and space. It’s a great example of how tailored solutions can make compact living more comfortable and personal.
