Custom Cubix Sofa for a Small 2 Room Flat A Perfect Fit
When a customer came to us with a photo of a compact sectional sofa he liked, he was hoping to find something similar for his newly renovated 2 room flat. The goal was clear, a cozy 2 seater sectional that maximized both space and comfort.
After reviewing the photo, we recommended our Cubix Fabric Sectional L Shape Sofa with modified chaise width at 110cm instead of default 140cm for his space. This offered a similar style and layout. We then mapped the sofa’s dimensions precisely to fit his floor plan without overwhelming the small space.
He requested a higher backrest for better support during long lounging hours. To meet this need, we proposed our Cubix Fabric Adjustable Backrest Sofa model, which allows for standard seating or deeper seats with higher backrest.
At that point, we finalized the idea of using the Cubix Fabric Adjustable Backrest Sofa paired with an ottoman, as that was the available configuration. We then moved on to fabric selection and presented him with a range of white, beige, and brown options to complement his interior.
However, he asked for something that was both cooling and washable, suitable for everyday use and Singapore’s humid weather. We recommended our Medici fabric series, a cotton blended fabric made of 60% cotton and 40% linen. It combines linen’s breathability with cotton’s softness, making it a practical and comfortable choice.
Once the fabric was selected, he brought up his interest in having a full L shape sectional again instead of using a separate ottoman. Although this model originally came only with sofa and ottoman options, we checked with our factory and confirmed that it was possible to customize it into a chaise configuration. After receiving the go-ahead, we proceeded to draw out the sectional orientation for his confirmation. In the quote, we also provided the cost for it in Medici, which required a markup compared to our default fabric series for Cubix Fabric Adjustable Backrest Sofa as it is 100% organic.
Once all the details were confirmed, we followed up with a site visit to his flat, which had just completed renovation pending the sofa. He had searched high and low for possible options before reaching out to us. We brought along all the related fabric swatches so he could see and feel the options in his space, and also took measurements to confirm how the sofa dimensions would fit within the layout. He chose Medici 02, a calming beige tone that worked beautifully with his interior. There, we also confirmed the final sofa size at 220cm, based on his actual floor space via measuring tape. This custom fit ensured the sectional served its purpose without crowding the room.
Lastly, for comfort, he preferred firmer seat cushions. So instead of our standard foam with down feather top layer, we customized the seats with full foam cushions for a more supportive feel.
After production, we sent him a photo of the finished sofa on the factory floor for approval. The sofa was produced within 1.5 weeks (many thanks to the factory workers who worked overnight to get this out!) instead of the usual 2 to 2.5 weeks so that it would be ready in time for the Chinese New Year celebrations.
There was also a slight stroke of good fortune as the shipment arrived on time despite the busy festive season. We delivered the sofa to him right after unpacking the container at our warehouse, ensuring it arrived just two days before the festivities.
Since he was at work, his brother received the sofa on his behalf. We made sure everything was in order before leaving. Later that day, the customer messaged us to say he was satisfied with the result and paid us the 50% remaining balance.
